User Levels are here!

User Levels are an easy way to assign different privileges to your content creators and admins. The feature comes with three convenient presets already set up.

As your blog grows you'll want to bring in more people to help manage it. Keeping track of who is allowed to do what can often get confusing. Sometimes, hard limits are needed to stop people from messing around with things they shouldn't. User Levels are how you get it done!

So gimme the lowdown

In the admin panel of your account, you'll find the 'Users' button under the 'My Account' dropdown.

Once you click it, you'll see the Users page, which lists all the people who can access your blog. The first time you see it, you'll be the only one there, but it's easy to add more.

Click the 'Add User' button and fill in the first name, last name, and email address of the person you want to grant access to. Then, go to the 'Role' dropdown and choose which user level to assign. You'll see the three presets already there, along with an option to assign custom permissions. This is ideal for one-off users who need specific permission different from other levels.

Writer

This user role has the most restrictive access privileges. Writers can only create and edit posts. They can't publish posts, delete drafts, add or remove categories, or access anything else about your blog. They can only submit drafts for review, which need to be looked over by a user with the authority to publish posts.

access privileges of writer user level

This level of access is ideal for new members of your team whose work you'd like reviewed before publishing live on your blog. Once writers prove they can adhere to your content guidelines, you can easily let them publish their own posts by switching them to a higher user level.

Editor

Editors have complete control over the content of your blog. They can do anything with drafts and categories, up to and including publishing, and they can add new authors to your blog. They're the be-all, end-all for content creation.

This level is ideal for people who have proven themselves to know your style inside and out, so much that they can be trusted to have control over your other contributors' content.

Admin

Admins can do everything. Period. They have full access to your DropInBlog account. They can manage content and categories, publish and delete drafts, manage authors, and edit your blog. As well as access your settings, code and layout, subscription plan, payment methods, and user levels... all of it!

This level is only for people you absolutely trust who need this level of control, like co-founders of your blog, new partners, or a new owner. The master admin, the leader of the pack, is the Lord High Supreme Commander of them all.
