The ActiveCampaign pricing system is pretty straightforward. This platform offers four pricing plans, two billing types, and a free trial. The only potentially confusing part is that its pricing is dynamic. Dynamic means that how much you pay depends on one or more variables. On ActiveCampaign in particular, your fees vary depending on the number of contacts you have in your contact list.
But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. In the following sections, we’ll take a look at all these points we mentioned. In addition, we’ll look into other ActiveCampaign fees that are not so obvious and are not so often discussed. So, let’s start our exploration.
The ActiveCampaign Free Trial and Billing
Before we dive into the ActiveCampaign pricing plans, we’ll say a few words on the free trial and the two types of billing this platform offers.
Free Trial
Just like the majority of the web platforms out there, ActiveCampaign offers a 14-day free trial. As you might expect, this means that a forever-free plan is not a part of the ActiveCampaign pricing system.
One of the best things about the free trial is that it doesn’t require you to leave credit card information. We find this extremely convenient because it frees you from concerns about getting charged inadvertently just because you forgot the date the trial ends.
When you set up an account with ActiveCampaign and are ready to start kicking the tires of the platform, this is the first thing you see:
From the admin dashboard, you can explore the available options on your own or check out the ActiveCampaign education center and let the courses there lead you through the ins and outs of customer experience automation with ActiveCampaign.
Billing
ActiveCampaign allows you to choose between two billing options: monthly and yearly.
The biggest upside of monthly billing is that it doesn’t include high upfront costs, and since you pay every month, you can easily cancel your subscription at any time. However, the downside is that monthly billing is always more expensive than its yearly counterpart.
The great advantage of yearly billing is that it always includes a discount, so you pay less in the long run. The drawbacks are the much higher upfront costs, as well as the inflexibility regarding cancellation; once you start your yearly subscription, you’ve got to stick with it at least for a full year.
One caveat before we move forward: at the time of writing of this article, ActiveCampaign has a special limited-time offer that includes a discount on all monthly and annual subscriptions. This means that the current reduced prices are different from the regular fees. So, in the next section on the ActiveCampaign pricing plans, we’ll show the current price along with the regular price of each plan. This special offer is valid only to new subscribers and it applies to the first three months of their subscription.
The ActiveCampaign Pricing Plans
This section will be dedicated to the four ActiveCampaign pricing plans. We’ll take a look at the fees as well as some of the most important features the plans include. So, without further ado, let’s get to it.
The Lite Plan
Price
The Lite plan is the lowest-tier pricing plan. It’s pretty cheap, but there’s a trade-off to the low price: it lacks some important features found in all three other plans, such as a built-in CRM, the possibility to build landing pages, SMS sending, and more. In addition to this, you’ll have ActiveCampaign branding in your forms and confirmation emails.
These are the different fees for the Lite plan:
- Monthly subscription: $11.25/month (current reduced monthly fee) and $15/month (regular fee).
- Yearly subscription: $6.75/month (current reduced yearly fee) and $9/month (regular fee)
It goes without saying that with the annual subscription, you don’t pay the $9/month (at regular price), but rather the sum for an entire year, which in this case would be $108.
Features
To get an idea of the tools the Lite plan provides, we’ll single out 10 important features:
- Email marketing: email broadcasting, email scheduling, triggered emails, email funnels, dynamic email content, email segmentation, personalized emails, and more.
- Marketing automation: automated email follow-up, automated workflows, automated abandoned cart recovery, etc.
- Drag-and-drop email builder along with free email templates: over a hundred responsive email templates that you can customize in an easy-to-use visual email builder/editor.
- Possibility to import contacts: import contacts from a CSV file, but make sure that every contact has an email address if you don’t want them to be skipped during the import.
- Autoresponders: send automatic emails to users who subscribe to your email list.
- Detailed analytics and reports: the reporting dashboard gives you access to all kinds of data: campaign reports, automation reports, contact reports, deal reports, chat conversation reports, marketing revenue, etc.
- Subscription forms: take advantage of one of the essential features for building contact lists that ActiveCampaign calls “doors to your contact database.”
- Site and event tracking: allows you to follow what happens on your site/page/app; that is, what visitors do, where they click, whether they watch and finish videos, what attracts their attention, etc.
- Possibility to use 870+ integrations: there are so many things that you can do from your ActiveCampaign account thanks to integrations like DropInBlog (content marketing and blogging), Shopify (e-commerce), Salesforce (sales), Jotform (forms), Zapier (developer tools), and a lot more.
- Live chat and email support: send an email to address issues and ask for information any time you need or contact the professional and highly responsive support staff via a live chat available during business days (from 8 am to 11 pm CST, except for Friday, when the service is available from 8 am to 6 pm CST).
Dynamic Pricing
We mentioned dynamic pricing earlier, but now you’ll see how it works in practice on ActiveCampaign.
The Lite plan fees that we saw and talked about apply only if you have 500 contacts or less. To have a bigger contact list, you need to pay more. Let’s see how the Lite plan fees look for more than 500 contacts:
- Up to 1,000 contacts:
Monthly billing: $22.50/month (current reduced monthly price) and $30/month (regular price)
Yearly billing: $21.75/month (reduced) and $29/month (regular)
- Up to 2,500 contacts:
Monthly billing: $45.75/month (reduced) and $61/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $36.62/month (reduced) and $48/month (regular)
- Up to 5,000 contacts:
Monthly billing: $74.25/month (reduced) and $99/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $59.38/month (reduced) and $79/month (regular)
- Up to 10,000 contacts:
Monthly billing: $130.50/month (reduced) and $174/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $104.19/month (reduced) and $138/month (regular)
- Up to 25,000 contacts:
Monthly billing: $214.50/month (reduced) and $286/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $171.69/month (reduced) and $228/month (regular)
- Up to 50,000 contacts:
Monthly billing: $318/month (reduced) and $424/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $254.63/month (reduced) and $339/month (regular)
- Up to 75,000 contacts:
Monthly billing: $420.75/month (reduced) and $561/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $336.62/month (reduced) and $448/month (regular)
- Up to 100,000 contacts:
Monthly billing: $515.25/month (reduced) and $687/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $412.06/month (reduced) and $549/month (regular)
- Over 100,000 contacts: custom pricing for a customized plan.
The Plus Plan
Price
The Plus plan comes next. For up to 500 contacts, these are the fees that you need to pay:
- Monthly subscription: $52.50/month (current reduced price) and $70/month (regular price)
- Yearly subscription: $36.75/month (reduced) and $49/month (regular)
Price-wise, the Plus plan seems to be a big jump from the Lite plan. However, as you’ll see very soon, this plan has a lot of good features missing from the Lite plan, which pretty much justifies the price difference. Let’s have a look at some of those features.
Features
On top of the features from the Lite plan, the Plus plan includes:
- Landing pages: easily create landing pages that help you convert more leads.
- Automation Map: a tool that allows you to see all your automation in one place, how they are interconnected, what works and what doesn’t work in different scenarios, adapt your marketing strategies and tactics in line with the insights, and more.
- Built-in CRM: helps you track your leads and deals, gain invaluable information on them, automate lead management and prioritization, etc.
- Sales automation: this feature works in unison with the CRM and allows you to automate different facets of the sales process, such as deal creation and updates, task assignment, lead nurture, and similar.
- Contact and lead scoring: ActiveCampaign lets you use a scoring system in line with your business goals to award points to your leads and contacts based on their engagement with your site/store/page and interaction with you. This helps you make important decisions about how to approach your contacts, when to make certain moves, etc.
- Custom user permissions: create different user groups, categorize users, and assign them different permissions depending on the group they belong to.
- SMS marketing and automation: automatically send SMS to users and allow them to subscribe to your contact list.
- Conditional content: this feature is a part of the email builder and it enables you to set certain conditions which, if a contact meets them (you can decide whether they have to meet all or some of them), then certain actions will be triggered. For instance, when you’re promoting a new product, if a loyal customer shows interest in it, you can offer them a special deal in the form of a discount coupon to persuade them to convert.
- Facebook Custom Audiences integration: connect Facebook Ads with ActiveCampaign and automate processes like adding and removing contacts from Facebook Custom Audiences.
- Removal of ActiveCampaign branding: this is a feature especially important to agencies, but it’s pretty appealing for regular users as well since everyone wants to promote their own brand, not someone else’s.
Dynamic Pricing
One curious thing about ActiveCampaign’s dynamic pricing is that the price of a plan doesn’t always change with the increased number of contacts. Unlike the Lite plan, the Plus pricing plan has the same fee regardless of whether you have 500 or 1,000 contacts. For over 1,000 contacts, the prices are the following:
- Up to 2,500 contacts:
Monthly billing: $93.75/month (reduced) and $125/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $74.25/month (reduced) and $99/month (regular)
- Up to 5,000 contacts:
Monthly billing: $139.50/month (reduced) and $186/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $111.56/month (reduced) and $148/month (regular)
- Up to 10,000 contacts:
Monthly billing: $215.25/month (reduced) and $287/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $171.94/month (reduced) and $229/month (regular)
- Up to 25,000 contacts:
Monthly billing: $355.50/month (reduced) and $474/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $284.44/month (reduced) and $379/month (regular)
- For over 25,000 contacts it is a custom price.
The Professional Plan
Price
The same price jump from the Lite to the Plus plan applies to the Plus and Professional plan. These are the starting fees for the Professional plan:
- Monthly subscription: $140.25/month (current reduced price) and $187/month (regular price)
- Yearly subscription: $112.13/month(reduced) and$149/month(regular)
ActiveCampaign claims that this is its most popular plan, and we can see how it would be. This is where things start to get really interesting, primarily due to the addition of tools powered by machine learning.
These exciting tools justify the price difference between the Plus and the Professional plan and surely make this plan the most appealing ActiveCampaign offering. Let’s see what they are, how they work, and what other important tools the Professional plan includes.
Features
It goes without saying that the Professional plan includes all the features from the previous two plans. In addition to those, these are some of the tools it offers:
- Split testing: ActiveCampaign allows you not just to do split testing, but to include it as a part of your automation.
- Predictive sending: this tool utilizes machine learning to help you send emails at the best time, based on data-driven predictions about when it’s most likely that a contact will open your email.
- Predictive content: another tool powered by machine learning whose goal is to allow you to send a personalized email with content that strikes the right note with your target contact.
- Win probability: yet another machine learning tool whose objective is to help you understand how likely it is that a deal will be closed, what works and what doesn’t work to increase the chances of conversion in a given situation, and whether you should focus your energy and time on a certain lead or not.
- Site messages: these are messages that pop up when a visitor is most engaged with the content they see on your site/page/store. Site messages allow you to give visitors updates on new products, use CTAs, inform them about discounts and special offers, and more.
- Attribution: shows you the number of conversions of a contact and traffic sources (Google, Facebook, Bing, etc.) that led to those conversions.
- Web personalization: build multiple versions of a site/page and show the one that’s the most relevant to a particular contact.
- One-on-one onboarding training: get insider’s advice, speed up the learning process of how to use ActiveCampaign efficiently, and gain an advantage over your competition from the get-go.
Dynamic Pricing
The Professional plan fees are the same for up to 2,500 contacts. After this number, the fees are the following:
- Up to 5,000 contacts:
Monthly billing: $196.50/month (reduced) and $262/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $157/month (reduced) and $209/month (regular)
- Up to 10,000 contacts:
Monthly billing: $318/month (reduced) and $424/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $254.44/month (reduced) and $339/month (regular)
- Up to 25,000 contacts:
Monthly billing: $514.50/month (reduced) and $686/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $411.50/month (reduced) and $548/month (regular)
- Above 25,000 contacts it’s a custom price.
The Enterprise Plan
Price
Enterprise is the highest-tier ActiveCampaign plan. Considering that it caters to large and demanding businesses, it’s expected to include the best features and be the most expensive plan. We’ll look at the features in a minute. For now, let’s look at the starting prices:
- Monthly subscription: $242.25/month (current reduced price) and $323/month (regular price)
- Yearly subscription: $194/month (reduced) and $258/month (regular)
For an enterprise plan, it’s actually quite affordable. However, it’s hard to imagine that an enterprise-level business would work with a list of only 500 contacts. That’s probably one of the reasons why the fees don’t change until up to over 2,500 contacts. This is a more realistic number and it’s great that ActiveCampiang charges the same fees even though this is five times the starting number of allowed contacts.
Features
The following is a list of selected features unique to the Enterprise plan:
- HIPAA compliance: means that, as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, ActiveCampaign won’t disclose protected health information.
- Custom mail server domain: instead of the ActiveCampaign server domain, you can use a custom server domain, so your customers will see this custom name when they receive your emails.
- Phone support: Enterprise is the only ActiveCampaign plan that includes phone support.
- Uptime SLA: ActiveCampaign guarantees that its services won’t go down below a certain, usually very high, threshold.
- Custom reporting: allows you to create custom reports on very specific aspects of your business data, impossible to create with the other plans.
- Custom domain: this is the only plan that allows you to use a custom domain with ActiveCampaign, which is one more important thing that helps you build stronger brand awareness.
- Customized branding: speaking of branding, this feature allows you to use your logo instead of the ActiveCampaign logo, customize how your site looks, customize email headers and footers, and more.
- SSO: works great for agencies because it lets their “clients sign into their white labeled ActiveCampaign account through the agency’s website.”
Clearly, a large portion of what makes the Enterprise plan special revolves around white labeling, which is hardly unexpected considering that it caters to large businesses with a strong and distinctive brand.
Dynamic Pricing
We already saw that with the Enterprise plan, the starting fees are the same until 2,500 contacts. If your list contains more contacts, you’ll pay the following fees:
- Up to 5,000 contacts:
Monthly billing: $355.50/month (reduced) and $474/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $284.19/month (reduced) and $378/month (regular)
- Up to 10,000 contacts:
Monthly billing: $505.50/month (reduced) and $674/month (regular)
Yearly billing: $404.19/month (reduced) and $538/month (regular)
- After this threshold begins the custom pricing.
